Calculating Silos Critical for Pre-incident Prevention
The More Silos the Better! (Yes, it’s true)

How many shootings (schools, workplaces, communities) and mass attacks in public spaces can you think of that did not have the following:

  • Pre-incident indicators: (warning signs, red flags, leakage, etc.)
  • Incident reporting options: (org, local, state, and federal)
  • Multiple sources of indicators: (org, community, online)
  • Resources and teams to intervene: (org and community)
  • Security solutions: (technology and personnel)
  • Silos: (indicators, sources, incident reporting, resources, and more)

Almost all had all the above, including dangerous silos. Silos, hundreds (or potentially even thousands) of them across organizations and communities, are common reasons why preventable mass attacks in public spaces, school violence, workplace violence, hate crimes, bullying, suicides, sex abuse, trafficking, fraud, and numerous other incidents were NOT prevented. Silos can also turn into huge liabilities in post-incident lawsuits and settlements, like the $127M FBI/DOJ paid in the Parkland settlement.

Silos will always exist

Silos will always exist, so organization and community leaders need to ask these very important questions and then take appropriate action:

  • How much have silos cost you in previous incidents/settlements?
  • How much could silos cost you going forward?
  • Are you equipped to connect hundreds/thousands of silos?

At Awareity, we say the more silos the better, yes you read that right!  When your organization and community are empowered and equipped to extract more information from more silos, engage more silos of sources, and connect more silos of resources so the right multi-disciplinary resources (organization and community) can see the bigger picture with all at-risk individuals and proactively help, intervene, disrupt, and prevent escalations from becoming incidents, tragedies, and liabilities.

Based on record levels of incidents, tragedies, and liabilities, silos are not easily or effectively connected using conventional approaches (meetings, emails, texts, spreadsheets, existing silo systems, etc.).  This is your opportunity to find out how early adopters are achieving impressive results when they are equipped to connect their silos before incidents rather than after incidents.
