TIPS Prevention Platform for K12 Schools

Troubling gaps exist in our K12 schools today. Places where information and knowledge stop or don’t get shared with the right people. These gaps are missed opportunities to prevent tragedies. TIPS Prevention Platform was developed to eliminate these dangerous disconnects, connect the dots, and close the gaps.

TIPS Prevention Platform is an innovative web-based platform of tools designed to empower K12 students, parents, teachers, and staff to confidentially and anonymously report bullying or other potentially harmful student safety concerns, including: weapons, drug/alcohol use, gangs, harassment or intimidation, vandalism, physical/sexual assaults, threats of violence, suicide risk, abuse, and others. Once reports are made, TIPS provides a central and secure system for school personnel as well as community personnel (in some cases) to proactively investigate the concern, objectively assess the situation, track and document all actions taken, and monitor students with ongoing follow-ups and reminders.

TIPS Prevention Platform is a comprehensive risk mitigation tool for Threat Assessment Teams (TATs), organizations, and communities that ensures all incident reports and observed pre-incident indicators can get to the right people in the right places at the right time with the right documentation so people can do the right things…right now!

TIPS Prevention Platform has been implemented with great success in over 400 schools across the US and Canada.

37% of K12 students say they are aware of an individual that poses a potential risk to their school. However, only 1 out of every 10 incidents/concerns are currently being reported. Even when a student does make a report to the school, only 15% of the time does the situation get better. Review Awareity’s Education Resource Library, including the 2014 Student Safety Report.
